Safe and Sound Protocol
I offer a specialized form of therapy using The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) to assist client’s with retuning the nervous system to better support connection, collaboration and emotional regulation and resilience.
Traditional Therapy
This type of therapy is what you would expect or may have experienced in the past. This is typically 50 minute sessions 1 time per week for 6-12 months (or more) depending on the needs the person seeking therapy. We will develop your goals and the overall plan together during our first few sessions and tailor the therapy to best suite your specific needs. I practice from a model of therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, or ACT for short. This is a more experiential form of therapy where we will use guided visual imagery, metaphors, exercises, videos, and other ways to work in therapy than just your traditional talk therapy. To learn more about this approach you can check out the video at the bottom of this page.
Brief Therapy
This type of therapy is more of a focused approach to help people when they need additional support during a life transition (new job, birth of a child, starting school, etc…) or have short-term issues or limited time for therapy. I practice from a method of therapy called Focused Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, or FACT for short. To learn more about ACT, see the video at the bottom of this page.
The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP)
This is a specialized form of therapy that can be used on it’s on or in conjunction with other types of therapy (talk therapy, EMDR, somatic experiencing). The Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is a powerful listening therapy designed to help regulate the nervous system, so you can better connect with yourself, others and the world around you.
Reasons clients come to see me
Anxiety
We will work together on building tools to reduce stress and anxiety in your life. We will look at your current stressors, find out what is working or not working for you, and help you find ways to change your relationship to stress so it no longer gets in the way of you living the life you want to live.
Mood Issues
We will work together on developing strategies and skills to help regulate mood and find ways to “ride the wave” of mood fluctuations. We will use a mindfulness-based approach to take advantage of the highs and manage our way through the lows in a kind and compassionate way.
